LARPing on the BBC

This video clip has been popping up all over- twitter, facebook, other blogs… LARPing doesn’t come up often in the media, and when it does, it’s often portrayed fairly negatively. (In fact, one of these days I will get around to posting reviews of various movies that feature LARPing, including the famous Role Models, various documentaries, and a recent episode of a Disney channel kid’s show.) The BBC clip is a really nice, refreshing change to see an honest look at the hobby.

Also, the clip mentions a book, Lizzie Stark‘s Leaving Mundania, which has just come out. Someone has kindly ordered a copy for me as a gift. I’m looking forward to reading it.

Also, it claims that “…Queen Elizabeth I is believed to have been a ‘LARPer’ who dressed up to play games.” Hm. I’m going to have to look into that.
