It’s summer, which means that plans for NELCO are in full swing.
For those unfamiliar, NELCO is the New England LARP Conference, the first all LARP conference in the US. It’s a fairly low key event, so most of the attendees are locals, but I thought it might be cool to get a more diverse (at least location wise) pool of people involved.
We’ve tried using skype/video chat in the past, but the internet connection at our current hotel puts a huge damper on this. But I thought we might try including non-live videos to enable more non-locals to contribute.
So, if NELCO is too far for you to travel, but you have a LARP related topic that you’d love to give a talk about or host a panel on, consider making it into a short video and sending it to us! Last year, a European LARPer who had moved to the US gave a presentation on LARP in Europe, and we’d love to learn more about LARP communities outside of New England. But your topic need not be specific to your community — anything LARP related can be a potential topic. You can view the schedule from last year’s NELCO to get an idea of the variety of topics we cover.
There are no current limits on the length of the videos. If we get a handful of short ones, we may have a block dedicated to watching and discussing them back to back. If we get longer ones, we may simply give them their own block on the schedule, with time afterwards to discuss them. The NELCO staff is currently discussing formats for collecting comments and questions from NELCO attendees to send back to the source of the video. As I’ve said, we’ve never done this before, so if there’s interest, we will be playing it by ear.
We’re looking forward to viewing your videos!
